Amritsar, January 10 (K.L. Jit Walia):- Following the guidelines of the Government of India’s Home/Defence Department, and under the guidance of Shri Sanjeev Kumar Kalra, IPS, Special DGP, Punjab Home Guards & Civil Defence, and Shri Harmanjit Singh, Additional Commandant General, Home Guards & Civil Defence Punjab, the first 7-day Civil Defence Volunteer Training Camp of Civil Defence Amritsar was successfully concluded.
The training camp was organized from January 2, 2026, at Government Medical College, Amritsar, under the leadership of Shri Manpreet Singh Randhawa, District Commandant, Punjab Home Guards-cum-Additional Controller, Civil Defence, Amritsar. A total of 243 Civil Defence volunteers from Amritsar participated in the camp.
On this occasion, Shri Surjeet Sharma (Chief Warden), Shri Rajesh Bhanot (Deputy Chief Warden), all Divisional and Sector Wardens, Civil Defence volunteers, Master Trainers Shri Harsimranpreet Singh, Sandeep Singh, Shri Hajjrai Khanna, Shri Jaswinderjeet Singh, Shri Jagmohan, Shri Charanjit Singh (C.D.I.), along with the entire departmental staff, were present.
During the training camp, volunteers were imparted theoretical as well as practical training on subjects such as civil defence, fire safety, first aid, CPR, management of natural and man-made disasters, road safety, lifting and shifting techniques, etc. Special training sessions were also conducted by experts from the Medical Department, Fire Brigade, and Red Cross.
The trainee volunteers were provided with Civil Defence syllabus books, stationery, reflective jackets, track suits, identity cards, and bags. Trainers from various departments were honored with mementos by Civil Defence Amritsar in recognition of their services.
At the conclusion of the training camp, Commandant Manpreet Singh Randhawa expressed his gratitude to all volunteers and staff members and informed that the second Civil Defence Volunteer Training Camp will commence from January 14, 2026.
