Amritsar, January 8 (K.L. Jit Walia):The Punjab Government has promoted 12 IPS officers to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), including S. Harpreet Singh. At present, Harpreet Singh is posted as SSP Vigilance, Amritsar Range.
It is noteworthy that earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, had promoted nine senior Punjab Police Service (PPS) officers to the Indian Police Service (IPS), among whom Harpreet Singh was also included. He joined the Punjab Police in 1994. His father, late Jagjit Singh, was a senior IAS officer.
During his long and distinguished police career, Harpreet Singh has served in various districts of Punjab. He worked as Deputy Superintendent of Police in Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala), Amloh (Sri Fatehgarh Sahib), and Mohali (S.A.S. Nagar). He also served as Detective in Amritsar (Rural) and as DCP in Amritsar city.
He has held the post of Superintendent of Police at Gurdaspur Road Quarters, Pathankot, and Mohali, and was also posted in Chief Minister’s Security. He later served as Senior Superintendent of Police in Moga, Batala, and Khanna. Additionally, he has worked as Senior SSP Vigilance, Patiala.
IPS Harpreet Singh has also rendered his services as Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Crime Branch, and Vigilance Department. Currently, he continues to serve as SSP Vigilance, Amritsar Range.
The newly appointed DIG Harpreet Singh is widely known as an honest, soft-spoken, and highly experienced officer. His vast experience in police administration and public service is expected to play a significant role in strengthening law enforcement and governance.
