ISKCON Amritsar to Fill the City with Devotion and Harinam Sankirtan on July 18
Amritsar, July 17 (Uppal):
On the auspicious occasion of Lord Shri Jagannath Ji’s Rath Yatra, ISKCON Amritsar is organizing a grand Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra in the Civil Lines area for the first time. The announcement was made during a press conference on Friday by Indranuj Prabhu, President of ISKCON Amritsar.
He informed that the Rath Yatra will commence at 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from Gobind Park, Basant Avenue. The procession will pass through Basant Avenue, Maqbool Road, Mall Road, Green Avenue, and Anand Avenue, before concluding back at Gobind Park.
He further stated that offerings (Bhog) and Aarti of Lord Jagannath, Lord Baladev, and Goddess Subhadra will be performed only at designated welcome stages. The chariot will not halt at any other location along the route.
Indranuj Prabhu said that inspired by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, the Rath Yatra is celebrated across the world with the objective of spreading devotion to Lord Krishna and the chanting of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra. The entire atmosphere will resonate with devotional Harinam Sankirtan during the procession.
On the occasion, ISKCON Food for Life will distribute Khichdi Prasad and Kheer Mahaprasad free of cost to all devotees. The preparations for the event have been supported by Pawan Verma, Surbhi Verma, Kartikeya Verma, Ganesh Verma, members of the ISKCON Rath Yatra Committee, volunteers from ISKCON Lakshmansar, ISKCON Vrindavan Garden, and ISKCON Shri Gokul Gaushala.
During the press conference, Indranuj Prabhu appealed to the citizens to participate in large numbers with their families, pull the sacred chariot of Lord Jagannath, and receive the divine blessings of the Lord.
Prominent devotees and committee members including Pawan Verma, Surbhi Verma, Kartikeya Verma, Dashrath Das, Vishnuchitta Das, Narendra Arora, Atul Sharma, and Atul Verma were also present on the occasion.
