Qadian, June 28 (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann addressed a massive public gathering at Victoria Garden in Qadian, where he announced several key development initiatives for the constituency. During the event, senior leader Gurikbal Singh Mahal, who recently joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after leaving the Shiromani Akali Dal, was warmly welcomed by thousands of supporters.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Gurikbal Singh Mahal had been entrusted with significant responsibility for the development of the Qadian constituency. He stated that any development proposals submitted by Mahal would receive priority approval from the government, adding that the state’s objective is the overall development of the region.
Mann also announced that the process to grant sub-division status to the Qadian Assembly constituency would be initiated. Once the required formalities are completed, offices of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) will be established in Qadian, enabling residents to access administrative services locally.
The Chief Minister also highlighted several welfare initiatives of the AAP government, including 300 units of free electricity, the government’s commitment to providing a ₹1,000 monthly honorarium to women, and a health insurance scheme offering coverage of up to ₹10 lakh. He said these initiatives are aimed at improving the lives of the people and reflected the government’s commitment to public welfare.
Criticising the opposition, Mann targeted Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa, alleging that those questioning the government had themselves been associated with corruption and drug-related politics. He asserted that the AAP government is working on the principles of honesty, transparency, and public service.
Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, Gurikbal Singh Mahal said he would strive to live up to the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to work with dedication for the development of the Qadian constituency, address public grievances, and ensure that government welfare schemes reach every household.
The event was attended by MLA Advocate Amarpal Singh (Sri Hargobindpur), MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, former Municipal Council President Jarnail Singh Mahal, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Uppal, Assistant Commissioner Kuldeep Chand, SDM Sarangpreet Singh, DSP Manoj Kumar, DPRO Harjinder Singh Kalsi, along with several administrative officials, party leaders, and a large number of local residents.
