Amritsar, January 6 (K.L. Jit Walia):- Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Shri Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, in a press note issued following his tweet, stated that the present time is extremely sensitive. Raising the voice of the people of the country and the state, exposing anti-people policies of governments, the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab, the daily incidents of murders, the growing menace of drugs, irregularities, and illegal activities before the public is the responsibility of opposition leaders.
He said that this responsibility should be fulfilled through RTI and other constitutional and legal means, and not by exerting pressure on fearless and honest journalists who risk their lives to write and speak the truth. Shri Randhawa appealed to leaders of all opposition parties to unite and collectively take this important struggle forward, and to themselves shoulder the responsibility of demanding accountability from the government, instead of leaving it to the journalist community.
He further made it clear that he stands like a rock with journalists who work with honesty and fearlessness, and that he knows how to give a befitting reply to any kind of oppressive action by governments.
