Raid conducted at a dairy in Rambagh; paneer samples collected and around 7 quintals of desi ghee sealed
Amritsar, June 3 (K.L. Jit Walia): Acting on the directions of Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Kamalpreet Kaur Brar, Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Dalwinderjit Singh, and under the instructions of Civil Surgeon Amritsar Dr. Charanjit Singh Bajaj, the Health Department conducted inspections of various dairies and shops selling milk and milk products early this morning.
Providing details, Assistant Commissioner Food Rajinderpal Singh said that the Health Department has been running a special campaign for the past month to curb adulteration in milk and dairy products. As part of this drive, a raid was conducted at a dairy located in the Rambagh area following a complaint received by the department.
During the raid, samples of paneer were collected for testing. In addition, 48 tins of Prabhu Desi Ghee, manufactured in Sirsa, Haryana, with a total weight of approximately 7 quintals, were sealed. Samples of the desi ghee were also collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Bajaj stated that those who endanger public health through food adulteration will not be spared under any circumstances. He emphasized that the department’s action against adulteration will continue relentlessly.
He further said that appropriate legal action will be taken as per regulations once the laboratory reports are received.
Appealing to the public, Dr. Bajaj urged citizens to immediately inform the Health Department if they come across any suspected cases of food adulteration so that timely action can be taken.
