Under the guidance of Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa, head of the Damdami Taksal and President of the Sant Samaj, the second day of the martyrdom week commemorating the 42nd annual Shaheedi Jor Mela in memory of the martyrs of the June 1984 Third Ghallughara was observed with great devotion at Gurdwara Gurdarshan Prakash, Mehta.
Thousands of devotees gathered at Damdami Taksal to pay tribute to the martyrs and offered prayers at the Guru’s court. The large turnout reflected the deep respect, love, and dedication that Sikhs continue to hold for their martyrs.
The evening religious congregation began with devotional hymns performed by Bhai Shubhdeep Singh’s Hazoori Ragi Jatha from Sri Harmandir Sahib, connecting the congregation spiritually with Gurbani. Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa then continued his discourse on historical events from the life of the Sixth Sikh Guru as recorded in Gur Pratap Suraj Granth.
Speaking about the events of June 1984, he said Sikh history is filled with sacrifices, struggles, and unparalleled martyrdoms made for the protection of faith. He emphasized that such commemorative events help connect the younger generation with Sikh history, heritage, and the sacrifices of great martyrs.
He urged the congregation to live according to Gurbani, Gurmat principles, and Sikh Rehat Maryada, while striving for the progress of the Sikh community. He stated that the devotees’ unwavering respect for the martyrs is a symbol of collective awareness and commitment.
During the congregation, Bhai Satnam Singh performed the recitation service, while Principal Gurdeep Singh Randhawa conducted the stage proceedings and thanked the religious leaders and devotees who had gathered from various regions. Information regarding upcoming martyrdom week events, Amrit Sanchar ceremonies, and special religious programs was also shared.
The event concluded with Ardas in memory of the martyrs and prayers for the welfare of humanity, Sikh unity, and the progress of the community. The entire atmosphere remained immersed in spirituality, Gurbani, and memories of martyrdom, leaving a profound impact on those present.
Several religious leaders and dignitaries, including Sant Baba Gurdev Singh Tarsikka, Baba Gurbhej Singh Khujala, Baba Navtej Singh Cheleana Sahib, Baba Swinder Singh Tahli Sahib, Baba Gurmeet Singh Badowal, Baba Balwinder Singh Kalia Wale, Baba Sukhwant Singh Channanke, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhyasi, Jathedar Baba Ajit Singh, Jathedar Sukhdev Singh, Principal Harshdeep Singh Randhawa, Dr. Avtar Singh Buttar, and many others, attended the event along with a large gathering of devotees.
