Amritsar, May 18 (K.L. Jit Walia) — The Karate Do Association of Amritsar organized a grand karate championship in which around 200 students from various schools participated. During the event, the young participants showcased excellent skills and delivered impressive performances.
The chief guests at the championship included Pramod Bhatia (Chairman, Sports Cell), J.P. Shur, senior official of DAV Managing Committee, along with Ashok Bhatia (former Deputy Commissioner, Excise and Taxation), Advocate Kunwar Rajinder Singh, Principal Vikas Kumar, and Vice Principal Munisha Thakur. The guests honored the winning students by awarding medals.
Speaking on the occasion, J.P. Shur said that today’s children are the future of the nation. He emphasized that students should actively participate in sports along with academics to bring pride to their parents, state, and country.
Pramod Bhatia stated that girls today are achieving new heights in both education and sports. He particularly encouraged girls to take self-defense training such as karate. He added that the association regularly organizes free training camps and announced that a special summer training camp will be launched in June, with dates to be announced soon.
On this occasion, Ashok Bhatia and Advocate Kunwar Rajinder Singh also honored the coaches present at the championship.
Several national coaches and sports enthusiasts including Kuldeep Singh, Dalwinder Singh, Dinesh Kaushal, Harmeet Singh, S.B. Tiwari, Rajbir Kaur, Pawan Kumar, Nanak Singh, Anjai, Balram, Komaljit Kaur, Preeti, Ankush, and Akash were present.
