Amritsar, May 06 (K.L. Jit Walia):The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Amritsar, under the able guidance and leadership of Hon’ble Mrs. Jatinder Kaur, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, DLSA Amritsar, has informed the general public that the National Lok Adalat will be organized on 09.05.2026.
As per the directions issued by Hon’ble Mrs. Jatinder Kaur, efforts are being made to settle the maximum number of cases through mutual compromise. She emphasized that Lok Adalat is an effective mechanism for providing speedy and inexpensive justice, and all concerned parties should play an active role in making this initiative successful.
Litigants and learned advocates have especially been requested to come forward for amicable settlement wherever compromise is possible. All such matters, whether at the pre-litigation stage or pending before courts, are being referred to the Lok Adalat.
The National Lok Adalat will be conducted through various benches across the district to ensure maximum public outreach, including at Amritsar Headquarters, Baba Bakala Sahib subdivision, and Ajnala.
The following categories of cases will be taken up for settlement in the National Lok Adalat:
Civil cases such as recovery suits, partition matters, and property disputes.
Matrimonial and family disputes (except non-compoundable matters).
Cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act (Cheque Bounce cases).
Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases.
Labour and industrial disputes.
Compoundable criminal cases.
Revenue and other miscellaneous matters pending before courts or authorities.
Pre-litigation disputes relating to banks, financial institutions, electricity and water bills, and other public utility services.
The District Legal Services Authority, Amritsar, has appealed to all litigants, lawyers, and concerned parties to participate in the National Lok Adalat and take advantage of settling their disputes amicably. Settlement through Lok Adalat not only saves time and expenses but also helps maintain harmony and cordial relations between the parties.
