Amritsar, April 28 (K.L. Jit Walia):An issue related to the education system has surfaced, causing concern among students and parents. According to reports, if a student gets a compartment, they are required to pay a fee of ₹1100 to reappear for the examination. However, if the student fails to apply on time for any reason, a late fee of ₹1000 per day is imposed, which can go up to a maximum of ₹30,000.
When contacted, the Vice Chancellor of the concerned university stated that this rule has been in place for the past eight years and that making changes to it does not fall within their authority.
Students have expressed strong dissatisfaction, pointing out that the late fee of ₹1000 per day is excessively high compared to the base fee of ₹1100. This, they say, creates a significant financial burden, especially for students from economically weaker and middle-class backgrounds, who find it difficult to arrange such large sums.
Education experts and social organizations have also called for a review of this policy, urging authorities to make the system more student-friendly and provide relief to those affected.
