Amritsar, April 4 (K.L. Jit Walia) — The Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board, Dr. Meenesh Shah, visited the Verka Milk Plant in Amritsar today. He was warmly welcomed by the Board of Directors and management of Milk Union Amritsar.
On this occasion, General Manager Animesh Pramanik briefed him about the achievements of the dairy in recent times. He also provided details about the 2.35 LLPD fermented dairy and other products plant being set up by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
He informed that the project is being developed at an estimated cost of around ₹136 crore and will incorporate modern technology. This will not only enhance the production capacity of Verka Amritsar Dairy but also improve the quality of milk and dairy products.
He added that once the project becomes operational, consumers will receive better quality products, while farmers, transporters, and shopkeepers will also benefit.
At present, the work on the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) is almost complete and will be made operational soon. The remaining work of the project is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
On this occasion, Vice Chairman Bhupinder Singh, Board members Amandeep Singh, Palwinder Singh, Gurmukh Singh, Surjit Singh, Jagjit Singh, Harjit Singh, Baj Singh, Milkfed Punjab General Manager Sanjeev Sharma, NDDB Regional Head Rajesh Kumar, Senior Managers Sandeep Dhiman and Shreyas Jain, Manager R.P.S. Bali, along with officials and staff of Milk Union Amritsar, were also present.
