Amritsar, February 27 (K L Jit Walia): Punjabis living abroad have always maintained a strong connection with their homeland and are eager to contribute to the progress of Punjab. During a recent event in Amritsar, prominent NRI personalities from the UK and Canada shared their views on investing in Punjab.
Attending the event were NRI Indie Gill, NRI Jagbir Chauhan, renowned social worker Bhagwant Singh Ghumanpura, and Jagwant Singh. They expressed their willingness to make large-scale investments in Punjab but emphasized the need for a transparent, secure, and trustworthy environment. They stated that with proper administrative measures ensuring transparency, security, and adequate facilities, NRIs would invest in Punjab confidently and without hesitation.
The speakers highlighted the immense potential in sectors such as agriculture, industry, education, healthcare, and tourism, and called for a positive, investment-friendly atmosphere to allow Punjabis abroad to contribute both capital and experience to accelerate the state’s economic growth.
These NRI leaders had come to Amritsar to attend the marriage ceremony of social worker Satinder Singh Randhawa’s son. In an informal discussion, they reiterated their commitment to Punjab’s development and suggested that a single-window system and legal safeguards for NRI investors could significantly boost investment in the state.
The event was attended by social worker Satinder Singh Randhawa, Dr. B S Bhangu, Harjit Singh Bhaini, former chairman Baljit Singh Chakk Mukand, Dr. Sandhu, and K L Jeet Walia, Editor-in-Chief of Punjab Media Times, among other dignitaries.
Speakers emphasized that winning the trust of the NRI community is crucial. By creating a safe and transparent environment, the government and administration can foster industrial growth and generate new employment opportunities in Punjab.
All attendees stressed that Punjabis living in India and abroad must work together for the state’s progress, ensuring that Punjab moves decisively back on the path of development.
