Amritsar, September 7 (K.L. Jit Walia): A massive cleanliness drive was launched today in Ward No. 46 of the Amritsar South constituency under the leadership of MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar, with the objective of further improving sanitation व्यवस्था and providing residents with a clean and healthy environment.
The cleanliness अभियान was initiated in the areas of Chatiwind Gate, Baba Deep Singh Colony and Laxman Sar Chowk.
During the drive, MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar inspected the sanitation arrangements in the area and directed the concerned officials to further accelerate the cleanliness work. He said that improving sanitation, development works and basic civic facilities in every ward of the Amritsar South constituency remains among his top priorities.
Senior constituency leader Balwinder Singh Billa, Ward No. 46 In-charge Harpreet Singh Mani, and Ward No. 44 In-charge Ravi Sher Singh were specially present on the occasion.
A large number of local leaders, sanitation officials and residents participated in the cleanliness campaign, including Harpreet Singh Mani, Deepak Verma, Sarabjit Singh Bittu, Babbu Ji, Chief Sanitary Officer Jatinder Pal Singh Babbar, Sanitary Inspector Rajan, Shamsher Singh and Ravi Sher Singh.
Addressing those present, MLA Dr. Nijjar said that cleanliness is not solely the responsibility of government departments, but also the duty of every citizen to contribute towards keeping their surroundings clean.
He said that the dream of a clean and beautiful city can only be realised through the active cooperation and participation of the public.
Dr. Nijjar further stated that no negligence regarding sanitation-related issues in the area would be tolerated. The concerned departments have been instructed to promptly address and resolve public complaints related to cleanliness and civic services.
Senior leader Balwinder Singh Billa, Harpreet Singh Mani and Ravi Sher Singh said that under the leadership of MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar, special emphasis is being placed not only on development works but also on strengthening the sanitation system across the Amritsar South constituency.
They said similar cleanliness campaigns would continue in different wards in the coming days.
Local residents and prominent citizens appreciated the initiative, stating that such campaigns would not only improve the appearance of the area but would also provide residents with a cleaner, healthier and better living environment.
