Amritsar, September 7 (K.L. Jit Walia): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received a significant boost in Amritsar South on Sunday when several senior leaders from the Congress Party, along with their supporters, joined the AAP in the presence of Amritsar South MLA Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar.
The political development took place following the efforts and inspiration of senior constituency leader Balwinder Singh Billa. Ashok Kumar, former Block President of the Congress BC Wing and former District General Secretary of NSUI, formally joined the Aam Aadmi Party along with his associates.
Several other senior Congress leaders, including Akashdeep Singh, Amarjit Singh Sunny, Jeevan Lal, Gurpreet Singh and Karamjit Singh, also announced their decision to join the Aam Aadmi Party.
Their entry into the party is being seen as an important political strengthening for AAP in the Amritsar South constituency.
Welcoming the newly joined leaders and their families, MLA Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that their experience, support and dedication would further strengthen efforts towards public service and development.
Dr Nijjar said that the Aam Aadmi Party is working with commitment for the welfare of the people and the progress of Punjab. He stated that people from different sections of society are being attracted towards the party due to the Punjab government’s initiatives in sectors such as education, healthcare, electricity and other public welfare services.
He expressed hope that the newly joined leaders would actively contribute towards addressing public issues and accelerating development works in the constituency.

Senior leader Balwinder Singh Billa also welcomed the new members and said that people were continuously joining the Aam Aadmi Party after being influenced by its people-oriented policies and the development works being carried out by MLA Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar in the constituency.
The newly inducted leaders expressed confidence in the policies of the Aam Aadmi Party and said that they would work with full dedication towards strengthening the organisation and serving the people.
