Narendra Kapoor, Amritsar :- During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France in 2023, he met an inspiring woman who, despite living abroad, has been actively promoting Indian values, culture, and yoga. Her name is Charlotte Chopin.
At around the age of 50, Charlotte Chopin was suffering from severe back pain. When medicines failed to provide relief, a friend advised her to try yoga. With regular yoga practice, she experienced remarkable benefits, and her pain completely disappeared.
This experience transformed her life. She realized that if yoga could benefit her so profoundly, its benefits should reach everyone. With this thought, she began teaching yoga in France.
Today, Charlotte Chopin is 101 years old, yet she remains healthy, active, and full of energy. In recognition of her exceptional contribution to the promotion of yoga and Indian culture, the Government of India honored her with the Padma Shri Award in 2024.
Charlotte Chopin’s life teaches us that yoga is not just physical exercise, but an art of living a healthy life. Her sole message to the world is:
“Yoga eliminates disease.”
