Amritsar, August 17 (K.L. Jit Walia) — The birth anniversary of Sri Satguru Dalip Singh Ji, described by the organisers as a guiding figure for unity and brotherhood, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion at Chugawan Sadhpur. The programme was organised by Namdhari children under the Vishav Naujavaan Namdhari Vidyak Jatha.
The entire programme was organised by children and witnessed participation from youngsters of different age groups. As part of the celebrations, the younger generation prepared 151 greeting cards to express their happiness and respect for Satguru Dalip Singh Ji.
The religious programme began with Asa Di Var kirtan by the Chandigarh Jatha. This was followed by speeches, poetry recitations, diwans, shabad presentations, Gurbani recitation, Gurbani shabad, unique painting exhibitions and plays. A special Kavi Darbar was also organised by young poets, recalling the rich tradition of poets associated with Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Focus on Bringing Out Children’s Talent
Namdhari Vidya Jatha President Sant Palwinder Singh Ji said the main objective of allowing children to organise the programme was to bring out their hidden talent, highlight the qualities and teachings associated with Satguru Ji and spread the message of his initiatives across the world.
He said that by giving the hidden potential of society the right direction, efforts can be made towards building a healthy and positive society.
Emphasis on Unity and Social Welfare
Highlighting the personality and initiatives of Sri Satguru Dalip Singh Ji, Kaka Sant Singh spoke about efforts associated with unity and solidarity. He mentioned initiatives such as the Guru Nanak Naam Lehva Conference, Hindu-Sikh Unity Conference and Indian Religious Unity Conference.
Bibi Kanwaljit Kaur spoke about initiatives undertaken for the welfare of women, while Master Iqbal Singh Ji elaborated on the special programme. Sant Surinder Singh Ji highlighted humanitarian welfare initiatives and extended greetings to people across the world.
Bibi Rajpal Kaur appreciated the unique efforts made by the children, saying that such initiatives can help provide positive direction to society and contribute towards building a healthy social environment.
Appeal to Help the Poor Instead of Giving Expensive Gifts
On the occasion, Suba Amrik Singh Ji and Suba Rattan Singh Ji said that Satguru Dalip Singh Ji has compassion for the poor. They said that instead of expensive gifts on his birthday, preference should be given to helping the needy and protecting the environment.
They appealed to people to serve poor and needy families rather than spending large amounts on gifts, pointing out that the same money could help provide essential food supplies to a needy family for several days.
Sant Sarbpreet Singh Ji Muhawa blessed the children during the celebrations. A specially illustrated book based on Namdhari history was also released by the children.
The programme concluded with continuous service of shardai and langar for devotees.
