Probe Underway to Trace Links with Cross-Border Smuggling Network: DGP Gaurav Yadav
Motorcycle Used for Smuggling Also Seized: AIG CI Gurasevak Singh
Ferozepur, August 8 (Rajiv Kumar): In a major success during the ongoing campaign to make Punjab a safe state, being conducted on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Police Counter Intelligence (CI) Ferozepur, in a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), arrested two persons with 30.200 kg of heroin and busted a major cross-border drug trafficking module. This information was shared by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of village Walle Shah Utar, Fazilka, and Manpreet Singh, a resident of village Nawan Hasta, Fazilka. Along with recovering the large consignment of heroin, police teams also seized a Hero Deluxe motorcycle (PB-05-AS-9856) allegedly being used for drug trafficking.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that further investigation is underway to establish the module’s links with the cross-border smuggling network and identify other associates involved in the operation.
Sharing details of the operation, AIG CI Ferozepur Gursevak Singh said that acting on credible information, a joint special operation was conducted with BSF Fazilka near village Satirwala on the Hindumalkot Road in Fazilka.
During the operation, the police team intercepted two suspected persons travelling on a motorcycle. A search led to the recovery of 30.200 kg of heroin from their possession.
The AIG said that further arrests and recoveries are likely in the coming days as the investigation progresses.
In connection with the case, FIR No. 14 dated 07-08-2026 has been registered at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Fazilka. A case has been registered under Sections 21-C, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
