Committee reviews dairy production process, quality control, and upcoming projects
Amritsar, July 29 (K.L. Jit Walia): The Punjab Vidhan Sabha Committee on Cooperation and related activities visited the Verka Milk Plant today to review its functioning, milk and dairy product quality testing, and processing systems.
The committee was led by its Chairman and MLA Sarwan Singh Dhun. Committee members MLA Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi, MLA Fauja Singh, and MLA Sukhwinder Singh Kotli were also present. The committee members were warmly welcomed by Bhupinder Singh Randhawa, Chairman of Milk Plant Union Amritsar, Vice Chairman Bhupinder Singh, and the Board of Directors.
On the occasion, Animesh Pramanik, General Manager of Verka Milk Plant, and Gurdev Singh Sandhu, representative of Milkfed Punjab, conducted a tour of the dairy’s various departments. They briefed the committee on milk and dairy product quality testing, quality control measures, and the plant’s modern processing system.
The committee was also informed that, through the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Milkfed Punjab Managing Director Rahul Gupta (IAS), a 2.35 LLPD Fermented Dairy and Other Products Plant is being established at Verka Dairy, Amritsar. This state-of-the-art project is expected to significantly enhance production capacity and improve the quality of dairy products.
The new facility will provide consumers with higher-quality milk and dairy products while also benefiting milk-producing farmers through better procurement and processing infrastructure.
Among those present were Milk Union Amritsar Board members Amandeep Singh, Gurmukh Singh, Jagjit Singh, Harjit Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Milkfed Punjab representative Gurdev Singh Sandhu, and other officials and employees of Milk Union Amritsar.
