Amritsar, July 20 (K.L. Jit Walia):MLA from Amritsar East, Mrs. Jeevanjot Kaur, has welcomed the Punjab Government’s decision, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to simplify the language used in property and land registration documents. She described the move as a historic and people-friendly initiative aimed at making official procedures easier for citizens.
Jeevanjot Kaur said that 35 difficult and technical terms that have long been used by the Revenue Department will now be replaced with simple and commonly understood Punjabi words. This change will make it easier for ordinary people to understand property registration documents and help them avoid unnecessary difficulties.
She stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has consistently focused on making government services simple, transparent, and easily accessible to the public. In line with this vision, the government has decided to replace outdated and complicated terminology with language that people can easily understand.
The MLA informed that, on the Chief Minister’s directions, a special committee constituted by the Department of Revenue and Rehabilitation recommended replacing the 35 complicated terms with simpler Punjabi alternatives. As a result, citizens will now be able to understand documents related to their land and property without requiring outside assistance.
She further said that Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian has directed the Inspector General of Registration and all Deputy Commissioners across Punjab to ensure that the new simplified terminology is used in all property registration documents.
Jeevanjot Kaur said that the decision reflects the Punjab Government’s commitment to citizen-friendly governance and will strengthen public trust in government procedures. She emphasized that no citizen should face unnecessary hardship in understanding documents related to their land or property.
She thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, and the entire Punjab Government for this historic initiative, saying such reforms would further strengthen good governance and people-centric administration in the state.
