Amritsar, June 11 (K.L. Jit Walia): Prominent social worker Paramjit Singh Kler stated during an interaction with journalists that Punjab needs strong and people-oriented leadership to overcome the growing challenges of drug abuse and crime. He said that Akali Dal ‘Waris Punjab De’, under the leadership of Bhai Amritpal Singh, has the potential to provide a new direction to the state and strengthen peace, communal harmony, and social reforms.
Kler urged both the Central and Punjab governments to make positive and constitutional efforts for the release of Bhai Amritpal Singh. He claimed that Amritpal Singh had undertaken significant initiatives to keep Punjab’s youth away from drugs and connect them with Sikh values and spiritual teachings. According to him, many young people abandoned substance abuse and embraced a more disciplined social and religious life due to his influence.
He further stated that Akali Dal ‘Waris Punjab De’ is committed to ensuring unity, security, and respect for people of all religions and communities, including Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, and Christians. He emphasized that the party aims to create an environment in Punjab where every citizen feels safe, respected, and empowered.
Referring to the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Kler said that people of all faiths and backgrounds enjoyed equal respect and protection during that era. He expressed confidence that a similar atmosphere of brotherhood, development, and prosperity could be established in Punjab once again.
Appealing to the youth of Punjab, Kler encouraged them to actively participate in social reform, anti-drug campaigns, and initiatives aimed at the betterment of the state. He said that young people are Punjab’s greatest strength and that their active involvement is essential for building a strong, prosperous, and drug-free Punjab.
