Amritsar, April 24 (K.L. Jit Walia, Bhullar) – Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO has launched a major project in Jandiala Guru aimed at improving the city’s electricity system and enhancing its overall urban appearance.
The project focuses on correcting hanging and disorganized power lines, replacing faulty 20×1 pillar boxes, and upgrading the low-tension power distribution system. Under this initiative, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has prepared estimates worth ₹55.41 lakh to ensure proper voltage and uninterrupted power supply for residents.
As part of the work, damaged 20×1 pillar boxes installed on transformers will be replaced with improved 4×1 pillar boxes. The minister explained that excessive length of 2-core PVC cables and the deteriorated condition of 4-core cables had been causing low voltage and frequent power disruptions.
To address these issues, the project includes repairing cables, raising low-hanging wires by installing additional poles, replacing damaged boxes, and upgrading burnt or faulty wires to strengthen the LT system.
Harbhajan Singh ETO stated that once completed, the project will provide stable voltage and uninterrupted electricity supply, significantly reducing public complaints while also improving the visual appeal of the city.
He further revealed that in addition to the ₹55.41 lakh works, projects worth ₹16.30 crore under the RDSS scheme have already been approved for the Jandiala Guru constituency. Moreover, tenders worth approximately ₹4 crore have been issued for urban beautification.
Overall, electricity infrastructure projects worth ₹20.85 crore are set to be completed in the coming period, marking a major step toward better power supply and improved city infrastructure in Jandiala Guru.
