Amritsar March 14 (K L Jit Walia): Hon’ble Justice Rohit Kapoor of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Administrative Judge of the Sessions Division Amritsar conducted the annual inspection of courts and the Central Jail Amritsar today.
During the visit Justice Rohit Kapoor carried out a detailed inspection of the Central Jail Amritsar. On this occasion he inaugurated a telemedicine facility aimed at improving healthcare services for inmates. Through this facility prisoners who are ill will be able to receive medical consultation digitally from doctors. The jail hospital was also inspected and the healthcare arrangements being provided to inmates were reviewed.
Justice Rohit Kapoor interacted with prisoners and patiently listened to their grievances. He directed the concerned officials to examine the issues raised and take appropriate action wherever necessary. He also inspected the jail factory and reviewed the machinery and vocational activities being carried out by the inmates.
Promoting environmental awareness Justice Rohit Kapoor planted a sapling inside the jail premises and encouraged the message “Every person should plant a tree.”
Later Justice Rohit Kapoor interacted with litigants who had come to attend the National Lok Adalat. He encouraged the parties to resolve their disputes through mutual settlement. During the proceedings a case listed before the bench of Additional Principal Judge Family Court Amritsar Aman Sharma was successfully settled with the personal intervention of Justice Rohit Kapoor.
The National Lok Adalat witnessed the settlement of a large number of disputes and a total of 33393 cases were disposed of during the event. The successful organization of the Lok Adalat and the inspection was supported by District and Sessions Judge Amritsar Jatinder Kaur Additional District and Sessions Judge Baljinder Singh ACJM Parminder Kaur Bains CJM Supreet Kaur and Secretary District Legal Services Authority Amritsar Amardeep Singh Bains along with other judicial officers and staff.
Justice Rohit Kapoor also addressed all judicial officers of the Sessions Division Amritsar and emphasized the importance of efficient functioning of the justice system timely disposal of cases and encouraging settlements through Lok Adalats.

Later Justice Rohit Kapoor visited the court complex at Ajnala along with senior judicial officers and inspected the premises. He also interacted with members of the Ajnala Bar Association and listened to their concerns and suggestions before issuing necessary directions to the concerned authorities.
On this occasion the e Mulakat facility was also inaugurated which will allow advocates to communicate digitally with their clients lodged in jails.
The visit concluded with a review of the judicial infrastructure and administrative arrangements aimed at strengthening the justice delivery system and improving facilities for litigants advocates and prisoners.
