Amritsar, February 16 — The sacred festival of Mahashivratri was celebrated with great devotion, faith, and enthusiasm at Vijay Nagar Main Chowk on Batala Road, organized by the Market Committee with the support of shopkeepers and local residents. The entire area witnessed a spiritual atmosphere throughout the day as devotees visited in large numbers to offer prayers.
From early morning, the chowk was beautifully decorated with colorful lights and flowers. An attractive tableau of Lord Shiva was set up by the Market Committee, drawing the attention of devotees. The environment became deeply devotional with bhajan kirtan and chants of “Om Namah Shivaya.” People performed rituals and prayed for peace, prosperity, and well being.
A large community feast was also organized on the occasion where hundreds of devotees partook in the prasad. The arrangements were well managed, and volunteers served with dedication, warmly welcoming everyone. Special attention was given to cleanliness and safety to ensure that visitors faced no inconvenience.
Former MLA Sunil Datti, who attended the event, extended his greetings on Mahashivratri and said that the festival inspires people to follow the path of truth, simplicity, and devotion. He added that such religious and social gatherings promote love, brotherhood, and harmony in society and encourage collective efforts for the welfare of the community.
He further noted that in today’s challenging times, community celebrations help bring people together and strengthen social bonds. Praying for the well being of all, he wished that Lord Shiva’s blessings bring happiness and prosperity to the region.
