Amritsar, January 22 (K. L. Jit Walia):A Dak Chaupal was organized at the Toor Branch Post Office with the main objective of providing common citizens detailed information about the public welfare, savings and insurance schemes run by the Postal Department, and to encourage maximum participation in these schemes.
The program was presided over by Mr Dalip Singh, Assistant Superintendent of Posts, Tarn Taran, while the Dak Chaupal was conducted by Branch Postmaster Mrs Rajvinder Kaur. Superintendent of Posts, Amritsar, Mr Praveen Prasoon was present as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Praveen Prasoon said that in the present times, the post office is no longer limited to the delivery of letters and parcels only, but has emerged as a reliable and easily accessible financial service institution for the common people.
On this occasion, detailed information was shared about major postal schemes such as the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Savings Account, Fixed Deposit Account, Recurring Deposit Account, Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance. People were appealed to join these schemes, which are completely safe and backed by the Government of India.
