Religious organisations and Ramlila committees from India and abroad to participate
Amritsar, September 30 (K.L. Jit Walia): As in previous years, the religious ceremony marking the commencement of the Akhand Jyot for Ramlila will be organised at Pavan Valmiki Teerth on October 9, 10 and 11 with devotion and enthusiasm. During a special meeting of Valmiki community leaders, social worker Pratul Sabharwal shared details of the programme with the press.
Pratul Sabharwal said that Bhagwan Valmiki Maharaj was not only a revered teacher of knowledge but was also an expert in martial arts. He said Pavan Valmiki Teerth holds immense religious and historical significance, and every year the Akhand Jyot for Ramlila is ceremonially started from this sacred site.
He said religious organisations of the Valmiki community from India and abroad, along with the Sarv Dharam Samrasta Samiti and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, are coming together on a common platform to carry forward this religious tradition. The Akhand Jyot taken from Pavan Valmiki Teerth is respectfully installed for nine days by Ramlila committees organising celebrations at different places.
He further said that after the conclusion of Dussehra, a religious bathing ritual is also performed at the historic sarovar, which is traditionally associated with the touch of the feet of Bajrang Bali Shri Hanuman Ji.
Sabharwal said that several religious personalities, including Sant Mahapurush Bal Yogi Baba Pragat Nath, Sant Malkit Nath, Sant Girdhari Nath, Sant Sewak Nath Kularan, Chief Coordinator Pramod Kumar and Vishwa Hindu Parishad National President Alok Kumar, are expected to attend the Akhand Jyot programme scheduled for October 9, 10 and 11.
In addition, processions arriving from Jalandhar, Himachal Pradesh, Ludhiana and other places will be warmly welcomed. He said Om Prakash Anaria, Pawan Darawad, Ravi Chauhan and Shahbir Darawad are playing an important role in preparations and arrangements for the religious stage.
