Amritsar, September 9 (K.L. Jit Walia): A special felicitation ceremony was organised in the Amritsar North Assembly constituency to honour the dedicated women workers, known as Sakhis, who have played an important role in promoting the Punjab Government’s ‘Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ and helping eligible beneficiaries access the scheme.
On the occasion, Karamjit Singh Rintu, In-charge of the Amritsar North Assembly constituency and Chairman of the Amritsar Improvement Trust, honoured the Sakhis and appreciated their service, dedication and commitment towards public welfare.
During the ceremony, Rintu said that the Sakhis worked with dedication, honesty and responsibility by reaching households and informing people about the scheme. They also assisted eligible women in filling out forms, collecting the required documents and understanding the government procedures.
According to Rintu, their sustained efforts helped connect a large number of people with the scheme and played an important role in facilitating financial assistance ranging from ₹3,000 to ₹4,500 for eligible women.
He said that the Sakhis had worked as a strong link between the Punjab Government and the common people. By reaching poor and needy families, they helped ensure that eligible women were not deprived of the benefits of the scheme because of a lack of information or difficulties in completing government procedures.
Karamjit Singh Rintu said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was working at the grassroots level to ensure that public welfare initiatives and benefits reached people’s homes.
“Women’s economic empowerment, dignity and self-reliance are among the major priorities of our government,” he said.
Rintu thanked all the Sakhis for their hard work and cooperation and said that their contribution had helped the scheme achieve significant outreach in the Amritsar North Assembly constituency.
He added that the campaign would continue with the same enthusiasm and commitment to ensure that every mother and daughter in the constituency receives the full benefit of the Punjab Government’s public welfare schemes.
