Appeal to People to Dispose of Waste in Dustbins Instead of Dumping It in the Open: Advocate Harpal Nijjar
Amritsar, September 3 (K.L. Jit Walia): — A special sanitation drive was organised in Verka under the ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ initiative, led by MLA from Amritsar East, Madam Jeevan Jyot Kaur, with the objective of making the constituency cleaner, more beautiful and environmentally healthier. During the campaign, residents were made aware of the importance of cleanliness and encouraged to keep their surroundings clean.
MLA Jeevan Jyot Kaur said that making Amritsar East a leading constituency in cleanliness and ensuring clean air and safe water for residents are among her top priorities. She said maintaining a clean environment is not merely the responsibility of the government or the Municipal Corporation, but a collective responsibility of every citizen.
She appealed to people to put waste in dustbins instead of throwing it in the open, reduce the use of plastic and prefer cloth bags. She also urged residents to keep not only their homes but also streets, neighbourhoods and public places clean.
On the occasion, Advocate Harpal Singh Nijjar, Aam Aadmi Party Block President, Verka, said that even a small contribution from every citizen can play a major role in making the city more colourful, beautiful and unique. He said making cleanliness a daily habit is essential to ensure a clean and healthy environment for future generations.
