Amritsar, August 5 (K.L. Jit Walia): Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh today reviewed the preparations for the district-level Independence Day celebrations to be held on August 15 in Amritsar. A meeting with officials from various government departments was held at the District Administrative Complex, where the Deputy Commissioner assessed the ongoing arrangements and issued necessary instructions to ensure timely completion of all preparations.
Chairing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that, as every year, the district-level Independence Day function will be celebrated with great enthusiasm, patriotism, and grandeur at Guru Nanak Stadium, Amritsar. He directed all departments to complete their assigned responsibilities well before the event.
He informed that Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora will hoist the National Flag during the Independence Day ceremony. The event will feature an impressive march-past by the Punjab Police, Women Platoon, Punjab Home Guards, NCC cadets, and marching contingents and band teams from various schools. Students will also present colorful cultural performances showcasing patriotism and Punjabi heritage.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations. Various committees and teams have also been constituted to oversee different aspects of the event.
He further announced that families of freedom fighters, war widows, and individuals who have rendered outstanding services in various fields will be specially honored during the ceremony.
The Deputy Commissioner directed Municipal Corporation officials to ensure special cleanliness and beautification of the city, particularly around the event venue. He also instructed the concerned departments to complete arrangements related to security, traffic management, electricity, drinking water, healthcare services, and other essential facilities well in advance.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Pallavi Mishra, SDM-1 Alka Kalia, SDM-2 Sukhmander Singh, Assistant Commissioner (General) Pragati Sethi, RTA Hitesh Veer Gupta, SDM Baba Bakala Sahib Jashanjeet Singh, along with officials from various departments.
