Amritsar, August 4 (K.L. Jit Walia):Following the protest decisions taken by the Punjab State Ministerial Services Union (PSMSU), all ministerial employees in Sri Amritsar district will observe a pen-down strike on August 5 and 6. Furthermore, on August 7, employees will avail collective leave to participate in a state-level rally in Chandigarh, organized by PSMSU, the Joint Employees’ Platform, and the Employees-Pensioners Joint Front.
District President Manjinder Singh Sandhu and District General Secretary Jagdish Thakur informed the media that the protest has been launched against the government’s failure to fulfill promises made to employees and its continued neglect of their long-pending demands.
They stated that the key demands include:
- Restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
- Withdrawal of the letter dated 17 July 2020.
- Implementation of the 4-9-14 ACP scheme.
- Release of 18% Dearness Allowance (DA).
- Granting pensioners the 2.59 multiplication factor.
- Regularization of contractual employees.
- Restoration of discontinued allowances.
- Resolution of other pending employee-related issues.
The meeting was attended by District President Manjinder Singh Sandhu, District General Secretary Jagdish Thakur, District Finance Secretary Gurmukh Singh Chahal, Chief Spokesperson Tejinder Singh Dhillon, Chief Advisor Ashneel Kumar Sharma, Senior Vice-President Aman Thariyewal, along with office-bearers from various departments and a large number of employees.
