Amritsar, July 14 (K.L. Jit Walia): Senior BJP leader Inderjit Singh Basarke, Chairman of the Punjab State Small Industries Federation of Associations (Government of India), expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab and criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Speaking to the media, Basarke alleged that incidents of extortion, shootings, sword attacks, murders, and robberies are increasing across the state, with newspapers and television channels reporting such crimes almost every day. He claimed that an average of 8 to 10 cases of murder and robbery occur daily in Punjab, raising questions about public safety.
Basarke said that if such incidents are occurring in a single day, the situation over an entire week is even more alarming. He further claimed that Punjab has been witnessing such conditions for the past four and a half years.
Targeting the AAP leadership, he stated that the people of Punjab are demanding answers from what he described as a government that had promised change but failed to deliver. He alleged that drugs, violence, and murders have devastated many families while the state government remains inactive.
He also claimed that traders are being openly threatened with extortion demands, creating fear within the business community and discouraging investment and commercial activity in the state. According to him, this reflects the government’s administrative failure.
Concluding his remarks, Basarke said that the people of Punjab need security rather than publicity campaigns and asserted that citizens will no longer remain silent over the prevailing law-and-order situation.
