In the Majitha Municipal Council elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured control of 7 out of 13 seats, while the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) won 6 seats.
Elections were held on May 26 for 11 wards of the Municipal Council, while AAP candidates in Ward No. 6 and Ward No. 13 had already been declared elected unopposed.
Vote counting began at 8:00 a.m. at Mai Bhago Government Polytechnic College for Girls, Amritsar, under the supervision of observers appointed by the Hon’ble High Court. After a day-long counting process, the results were officially declared at around 5:00 p.m.
According to Returning Officer Manbir Singh Dhillon, out of the 11 wards where voting took place, Shiromani Akali Dal won 6 seats and AAP won 5 seats. Adding the two unopposed AAP candidates, the party’s total tally reached 7 seats, giving it a majority in the council.
