K l. Jit Walia, Amritsar :- Fulfilling the promise of the Mann government to provide permanent housing to poor and needy families, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Amritsar Dr Jasbir Singh Sandhu today distributed cheques to 400 beneficiaries for new construction under the PMAY scheme.
On this occasion, Dr Sandhu said that over the past few months people in the constituency were continuously made aware of government housing schemes. Applications were collected from eligible families for the government share, and with the regular follow-up by the Municipal Corporation team, this significant achievement has been made possible. He said this financial assistance will greatly help poor families in building their dream homes.
Dr Sandhu said that the Mann government has taken a historic decision under this scheme. During previous governments, the Punjab government’s contribution was only ₹25,000, which has now been increased to ₹1 lakh by the Mann government. This decision has made new housing construction easier and more accessible for thousands of poor families.
He further said that the main objective of the Aam Aadmi Party government is to strengthen weaker sections of society through people-centric policies. Providing housing, health, education and basic facilities to every citizen is the top priority of the Mann government. He assured that efforts will continue to ensure that every eligible person receives the benefit of government schemes.
In conclusion, Dr Sandhu said that the aim of the Mann government is not just financial assistance but to provide a dignified life to poor families. Pending cases in the constituency will also be processed soon so that more beneficiaries can avail of the scheme. He congratulated the beneficiaries and wished them a bright future.
On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Vishal Wadhawan, Superintendent Lovleen Sharma, Harpreet Singh Bedi, senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders including Jathedar Dilbagh Singh Wadali, Municipal Improvement Trust member Mukhwinder Singh Virdi, Vikas Chhotu, Kulwant Wadali, Councillors Vijay Bhagat, Sandeep Singh, Virat Devgan, PA Amarjeet Shergill, PA Madhav Sharma and others were present.
