Batala, April 4 — Punjab working president and MLA Sherry Kalsi announced that a Mohalla Clinic will be constructed in the name of martyrs Bhai Sukha Singh and Bhai Mehtab Singh.
The decision was taken unanimously in the presence of laborers, shopkeepers, religious representatives, Nihang groups, and local residents at the Bhai Sukha Singh–Bhai Mehtab Singh Chowk. The clinic will be built using Nanakshahi bricks in a corner of the park named after the martyrs.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Sherry Kalsi said that the clinic will provide major relief to the working class and common people by offering free medicines and diagnostic services, reducing the need to travel long distances for healthcare.
He also criticized opposition parties, alleging that some leaders try to mislead the public and obstruct development work for political gains.
Kalsi clarified that no damage has been done to the park. The clinic will only occupy about 2 to 2.5 marlas of land, and the park’s beauty will remain intact. He added that the clinic will be named after the martyrs to honor their legacy.
Becoming emotional, he said that martyrs are invaluable to society and respecting them is everyone’s responsibility. He further claimed that Batala has seen more development in the past four years than in the previous 75 years.
Several prominent figures, including religious leaders, social workers, and representatives of Nihang organizations, were present on the occasion.
