Chandigarh/Ferozepur, August 24 (Rajiv Kumar): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today visited the native village of promising kabaddi player Gurjit Singh Toot in Ferozepur and met his family to express condolences over his untimely demise.
Expressing sympathy with the bereaved family, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the untimely death of Gurjit Singh Toot is an irreparable loss not only for his family but also for Punjab’s sporting community. He assured the family that the state government would extend all possible assistance during this difficult time.
The Chief Minister said that Gurjit Singh Toot had made a valuable contribution to kabaddi and his dedication to the sport would continue to inspire the younger generation.
Stadium to be Built in Gurjit Singh Toot’s Memory
Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that a state-of-the-art stadium would be constructed in Gurjit Singh Toot’s native village Toot, in Ferozepur district. He said the stadium would serve as a lasting tribute to the kabaddi player’s dedication to sports and would help inspire youngsters to pursue sports.
The Chief Minister also announced that a government job would be provided to the late player’s wife, reiterating that the Punjab government stands firmly with the bereaved family in this difficult hour.
CM Mann said that the contribution of the promising son of Punjab would always remain alive in the hearts of kabaddi players and sports lovers. He added that Gurjit Singh Toot’s commitment to kabaddi would continue to motivate young people to take up sports.
The Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty for peace to the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the irreparable loss.
