Amritsar, August 22 (K.L. Jit Walia): Surinder Duggal, State President, and G.S. Chawla, General Secretary of the Punjab Chemists Association (Regd.), which functions under the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), have urged the Punjab Health Minister to resolve the pending issues concerning chemists at the earliest.
In a letter sent to the Health Minister, the association raised the difficulties being faced by chemists regarding the renewal of drug licences. Referring to its letter No. PCA/PRES/223/26-27 dated July 11, 2026, the association appealed for an immediate resolution of the issue.
The association also brought the concerns of chemists regarding the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) to the government’s attention. According to the association, a letter had earlier been sent to the Central Government conveying its suggestions and concerns on the matter, but appropriate action has not yet been taken.
Surinder Duggal and G.S. Chawla appealed to the Health Department to seriously consider the problems being faced by chemists, hold discussions with representatives of the association and ensure timely resolution of difficulties that may arise in the future.
They said that all 23 district units of the Punjab Chemists Association are united on the issue and are also presenting their concerns before the concerned authorities at the district level. The association expressed hope for a positive initiative from the government.
