Amritsar, August 7 (Bhullar Devidas Puria): — A large number of patwaris and retired patwari-kanungo employees from Amritsar district participated in the mega rally held today at Dana Mandi, Sector-39, Chandigarh, on the call of the Revenue Patwar Union Punjab and retired patwari-kanungo colleagues, under the joint coordination committee of the Punjab Employees and Pensioners Joint Front and the Joint Employees Forum.
On the occasion, Saurabh Sharma, President of Tehsil Amritsar-1; Jobanjit Singh, President of Tehsil Amritsar-2; Punjab Vice President Harpal Singh Samra; General Secretary Harpreet Singh Baba Ji; District President Gurjant Singh Sohi; Fateh Singh, Mahesh Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar and representative Jaspal Singh, along with other leaders, participated in the rally.
From Tehsil Sri Baba Bakala Sahib, President Angrez Singh Devidaspuria, General Secretary Gurdev Singh Buttar, Harpratap Singh, Baba Surinder Singh Bhoewal, Manpreet Singh Malhar, Rashpal Singh Jalalusma, Satpal Singh, Gaurav Singh and Harpreet Singh, along with a large number of patwaris from the entire tehsil, reached the rally.
Similarly, patwaris from Ajnala, led by President Gurbaj Singh, participated along with their colleagues. From Majitha, President Manveer Singh and Manveer Singh Malli participated with their colleagues, while patwaris from Lopoke joined the rally under the leadership of President Karanjit Singh.
Retired kanungos and patwari colleagues were led by Punjab President Nirmaljit Singh Bajwa. Kulwant Singh Dehriwal and several other colleagues also participated in the mega rally in large numbers.
Major Demands of Employees and Pensioners
During the rally, employees and pensioners strongly demanded the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, payment of pending Pay Commission arrears in one installment with a 2.59 multiplication factor, withdrawal of the ₹200 per month tax imposed on employees, and release of 18% Dearness Allowance.
Other major demands included abolition of the probation period, withdrawal of central pay scales and implementation of Punjab pay scales, as well as regularisation of all contractual, temporary and outsourced employees.
