Amritsar, July 26 (K.L. Jit Walia): The Teej Cultural Fair was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Ameera Farm, Amritsar, under the theme “Shared Monsoon, Shared Courtyard: Mother’s Courtyard”, organized by the World Heritage Academy (USA, India, UK, Germany, Dubai, and Canada). The event was led by the Academy’s National Patron Sardarni Jagir Kaur Mirakot, who also attended as the Chief Guest. Lok Sabha MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla and Mrs. Andleeb Aujla graced the occasion as Guests of Honour, while Dr. Parmjit Singh Kalsi, National Awardee and former District Language Officer of Gurdaspur and Amritsar, presided over the event.
Several distinguished personalities, including social worker Sukhjinder Singh Sukh Aujla, Onkar Singh Hundal, Daman Sarai, Surinder Farishta (Ghulle Shah), Satbir Singh, National President of Vishav Punjabi Sabha Bharat, Dr. Rajbir Kaur Bir Grewal, and Dr. Navdeep Sharma, attended as special guests. Other honoured guests included Harjot Kaur Aujla, Sarabjot Boparai, Aman Kohri, Monika, Swarnim Khurana, Balwinder Kaur Pandori (virtually from the USA), Dr. Bhupinder Singh Bhakna, Dr. Aanchal Arora, Dr. Nidhi Thakur, Nirmal Kaur Kotla, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, and Deep Davinder Singh from the Central Punjabi Writers’ Association.
The cultural performances became the highlight of the fair. Renowned Punjabi singers Dolly Singh, Glory Bawa, and Aujla Brothers captivated the audience with their traditional Punjabi songs, encouraging people to dance and celebrate. Popular artists including Harjit Ladla, Parvinder Mudhal, Prince Athwal, Sufi singer Raj Jannat, National and State Award-winning singers Sister Jaspreet Kaur and Manpreet Kaur, dhol artist Baljit Kaur, Sushil Kumar, Sunny Music, and singers Mirza and Bir Aulakh also entertained hundreds of attendees while promoting the spirit of Punjabi culture and community harmony.
During the event, singer Dolly Singh was honoured with the “Padma Bhushan Gurmeet Bawa Memorial Award-2”, along with a cash prize of 11,000. Folk singer Glory Bawa received the “Pride of Punjab Daughter Award” with a cash prize of 5,100, while the Aujla Brothers were presented with the prestigious “Yamla Jatt Award.”
The organizers honoured around 150 distinguished personalities with traditional Phulkaris, mementos, appreciation certificates, and participation certificates in recognition of their contributions to society and Punjabi culture. The event witnessed the presence of numerous writers, educationists, artists, journalists, social workers, and cultural personalities. The stage proceedings were efficiently conducted by Dr. Rajbir Kaur Bir Grewal, the programme convener.
