Greek and Punjabi cultural performances add vibrancy to the closing ceremony
Amritsar, July 1 (K.L. Jit Walia): A unique Greek language course taught through the Punjabi language at the University of Patras, Greece, has been successfully completed. The initiative, assigned by the university to Gurpreet Kaur Gaidu, Vice President of the European Punjabi Literary Academy, was conducted over the past five months to teach Greek to women through Punjabi.
The seminar, which began in February 2026, concluded recently with a grand closing ceremony. The University of Patras and the European Punjabi Literary Academy congratulated Gurpreet Kaur Gaidu and her team for successfully completing the programme.
The organisers acknowledged the valuable support of the university’s distinguished faculty members and the Punjabi community in making the course a success. The closing ceremony featured lively cultural performances, including Punjabi Bhangra, Giddha, traditional dances, and Greek cultural presentations, creating a festive atmosphere.
Organisers noted that this was the first initiative of its kind at a Greek university, dedicated to education, literature, and cultural exchange through the Punjabi language. They expressed confidence that it would further promote the Punjabi language, literature, and culture internationally.
Special appreciation was extended to the Dean, Vice Dean, Ms. Peggy Manouli, Evgenia Bardesi, Mr. Vassili, and Olga for their significant contributions to the successful execution of the programme.
