Amritsar, June 24 (K.L. Jit Walia):Under the Punjab Government’s “War Against Drugs” campaign, an important review meeting was held today between the De-Addiction Front and the Amritsar Police Department. The meeting was chaired by Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, while Dikshit Dhawan, In-charge of the Majha Zone of the De-Addiction Front, participated along with his team.
During the meeting, the ongoing action against drug traffickers in Amritsar city was reviewed, and discussions were held on further strengthening and accelerating the anti-drug campaign. Special emphasis was laid on empowering police personnel at the SHO level so that drug peddlers operating in neighborhoods and localities can be eradicated from the grassroots. The participants also discussed improving coordination between the public and the police to free society from the menace of drugs.
Speaking on the occasion, Majha Zone In-charge of the De-Addiction Front, Dikshit Dhawan, said that under the directions of the Punjab Government, all volunteers of the organization are actively contributing to the campaign against drugs. Volunteers are reaching villages and urban localities to mobilize people against drug abuse. He added that the De-Addiction Front stands firmly with the police department in eliminating the drug menace from society.
During the meeting, all officials and representatives of the De-Addiction Front assured full cooperation to make the fight against drugs more effective. It was reiterated that to make Punjab drug-free, the government, police department, and every section of society must work together and fulfill their responsibilities.
Among those present were DCP Law and Order Vijay Alam, ADCP City-1, City-2, and City-3, DSPs of all sub-divisions of Amritsar Commissionerate, and representatives of the De-Addiction Front including Honey Nahar, Jai Kush Buttar, Kulwant Singh Wadali, Sahib Singh Gill, Manjit Singh Fauji, and Rahul Seth.
