Eliminating drugs and crime from Chheharta is the police’s top priority: SHO Balwinder Singh

Amritsar, June 3 (K.L. Jit Walia): Under the directions and people-centric approach of Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, a Police-Public Meeting was organized at Chheharta Main Bazaar, Amritsar. The meeting was held at the office of noted social worker and President of the Shopkeepers Association, Avtar Singh Jeweller, and witnessed participation from a large number of traders, shopkeepers, and local residents who highlighted various issues concerning their area.
The meeting was attended by SHO Chheharta Balwinder Singh, Aam Aadmi Party Trade Commission Halka West Chairman Manjit Singh Mann, and senior leader Surjit Singh Malli. During the interaction, traders raised concerns related to traffic management, shortage of parking facilities, security arrangements, sanitation, the growing menace of drugs, criminal activities, insurance coverage for shopkeepers and commercial establishments, and other civic issues.
Addressing the gathering, SHO Balwinder Singh stated that under the leadership of Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the police are reaching out directly to people to listen to their concerns and work towards their resolution. He emphasized that eliminating drug abuse and criminal activities from the Chheharta area is the police department’s foremost priority and that a special campaign is being conducted to achieve this objective.
He appealed to citizens to share information regarding anti-social elements and drug traffickers so that the area can be made drug-free and secure.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjit Singh Mann said that under the leadership of the Punjab Government, efforts are being made to address the concerns of both the public and the business community. He assured that all issues raised during the meeting would be brought to the notice of the concerned departments and senior officials and that every possible effort would be made to ensure their early resolution.
Several prominent residents and representatives of trade and social organizations were also present during the meeting, including Balwinder Singh Gora, Suresh Kumar Sharma, Satish Kumar Montu, Kawaljit Singh Comrade, Panna Lal Bhardwaj, Davinderjit Singh Fancy, Gurinder Singh Raja, Kannu Comrade, Satinder Singh Hardware, Surjit Singh Malli, Dilbag Singh, Tej Bahadur Singh, Bittu Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, Kamal Singh Fancy, Harsimranjit Singh Happy, Avtar Singh Maniyari Wale, Rajan Singh Readymade, S.K. Electricals, Bittu Mahajan, Surinder Singh Arora, Neeraj, Ghardeep Singh, Satinderpal Singh Jagga, Happy, Raj and several other dignitaries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Avtar Singh Jeweller, Kawaljit Singh Comrade, Suresh Sharma, and other traders appreciated the initiative taken by the police and administration. They stated that such police-public meetings help strengthen trust between citizens and authorities and provide an effective platform for resolving public issues. They also expressed hope that such meetings would continue to be held regularly in the future.
