Amritsar(KL JIT WALIA):- Under the initiative of KVI Education and Welfare Society, and with the cooperation of the Red Cross Society and the district administration, a mega blood donation camp was organized at SIFTI International. This was the first time that, apart from Punjab, people from various states of India as well as from abroad participated in such a blood donation camp.
The camp was organized by Vikramjit Singh, President of KVI Education and Welfare Society, along with his team. Blood donors from Punjab, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Dubai, and England took part in the camp. Vikramjit Singh informed that many people donated blood to mark special occasions such as their birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and their children’s birthdays. Around 100 social workers, along with a dozen NGOs and their volunteers, participated in the camp. A total of 450 units of blood were collected and made available for patients in need.
Record-holding blood donors also made a special contribution to the camp. Local differently-abled resident Bhupinder Singh donated blood for the 11th time, while social worker Rajesh Sidana donated for the 122nd time. From Gujarat, Suresh Revankar donated blood for the 171st time, Mantosh Shrinath for the 119th time, Devender Kumar Neetu for the 106th time, and from Rajasthan, Suhail Khan also donated blood. All of them stated that they came to know about the camp through social media and traveled specially to donate blood.
During the camp, 30 sewing machines were also presented to women from flood-affected families. These sewing machines were distributed by Ajaypal Singh, President of Navreet Blood Donation Society, a leading social service organization from Bargari, along with his team. Ajaypal Singh said that the camp was not limited to blood donation alone, but also became a strong medium to unite society.
On this occasion, MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta, Councillor Vikas Soni, Red Cross Society Secretary Samson Masih, Dr. Swaraj Grover, Human Rights Chairman Swaran Singh Vidardi, Sukhwinder Singh Matharu, Varinder Singh Vicky, Sandeep Singh, Surinder Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Ravi Mahajan, Seema Sharma, Sukhwinder Singh Lucky Kanpuriya, and several other distinguished personalities were present.
